Whites in the Community

SUPPORTING CHARITIES, EVENTS AND COMMUNITY IN AND AROUND SALISBURY

At Whites Estate Agents, we love supporting local community events and initiatives in and around Salisbury. We have recently supported:

Save the Children’s Annual Teddy Bear Hunt

For the second year running, Whites are one of the shops and companies in Salisbury to have a teddy bear hiding in their windows. For a six-week period over the summer holidays, children and adults alike can search for one of the hundred bears and donate to Save the Children's amazing work.

Berwick St John Country Fayre

We continue to be proud sponsors of Berwick St John Country Fayre. This popular bi-annual festival occurs each year two weeks following the Dorset Steam Fair and features steam engines, tractors, heavy horses, crafts, and much more. All funds raised during the fayre go towards the Salisbury Stas Appeal. We had a great time, and we look forward to next year!

Boys Treasured Toys Road Trip

In June, our MD Marcus Shepherd and Lettings Property Manager Ludo Glanville took part in a road trip in aid of Salisbury District Stars Appeal at Wilton House.

The road trip entitled “Boys Treasured Toys” encouraged participants to join in their much-loved classic cars, where they went in convoy from Wilton House, by kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke, to Sopley Farm, by kind permission of Dan Tanner where everyone enjoyed a picnic together.  They all ended up back at The Stalls at Sutton Mandeville, with the kind permission of Richard and Gilly Strang for afternoon tea. Many ‘000s of pounds were raised for The Stars Appeal. Marcus and Ludo drove Marcus’s 1985 Mercedes 280 SL.

Breast Cancer Now Cake Sale

Last October we took part in The Breast Cancer Now Cake Sale.  We all wore pink and, having baked an array of delicious cakes, managed to raise £80 for their amazing work.  It was great to have so many local agents, solicitors, and other companies come in to buy a cake.

Donhead St Andrew Fete

Two members of our team, Marcus Sheppard (MD) and Mark (Maintenance Manager) headed to the fete and took on the management of the very popular China smashing stall.

This involved a lot of china stacking by the adults and coconut throwing by the (mainly) children. This alone raised £175. The fete raised a total of £10,000. All money raised through the fete goes to The AirAmbulance, the local church and the village school.

The Royal British Legion " Poppy Appeal".

Held every year in November during the period of Remembrance. This marks the end of the WW1 centenary by saying Thank You to all who served, sacrificed and changed our world.

St Thomas’s Church, Salisbury Christmas Tree Festival

Whites continue to sponsor St Thomas's Annual Christmas Tree ðŸŽ„ festival.  Each year, it has around 110 Christmas trees on display, and around 50,000 people visit, which raises essential money for the upkeep of St Thomas's church and local charities.

Globally: Whites and AquAid

At Whites, we are excited to partner with Aquaid to provide water coolers.  Our unique relationship has also allowed our company to help those less fortunate than ourselves because, with each purchase, an automatic donation is made to The Africa Trust.

The picture below shows the elephant pump we have funded in Manicaland – a province in the northeastern highlands of Zimbabwe.

‘Elephant Pumps’ - are a modified version of an age-old Chinese rope pulley system. AquAid has built over 8,000 such Elephant Pumps across parts of Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe; and donated over £20 million to charity.  To see more information on AquAid visit
