At Whites Estate Agents in Salisbury, we firmly believe it is a GREAT TIME TO MOVE  which has just become EVEN MORE APPEALING with the Government recent announcement of the temporary ceasing of Stamp Duty.  Can you believe that in the first half-hour after the announcement, traffic on Rightmove jumped by 22%!

What does this mean?

This means that anyone purchasing a primary residential property between 8 July 2020 and 31 March 2021, up to the value of £500,000 will NOT have to pay Stamp Duty.  This exemption will apply to all primary residential property purchases, so regardless of whether the purchaser is a first-time buyer or someone who has owned a property before. 

Tony Lovatt-Williams, Head of Sales at Whites Estate Agents in Salisbury, explains that this will be beneficial to the whole market. “Anyone buying a property in the next nine months will benefit from a big saving in stamp duty. Second homeowners and anything over £500,000 will still incur a levy but much reduced.”
